Can someone please explain to me why I'm so interested in this thing? As far as I can tell, it's just another box with flashing lights and music that's smarter than me.

It's called a monome and it's basically a sample/beatmechanic type digital mixer onto which can be programmed any kind or combination of sound variables you can imagine.

kind of like a computer... Monome I hate myself for loving you.
